Why Lake Charles?
On August 27th, 2020, Hurricane Laura made landfall at Lake Charles, Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane, bringing devastating winds, rainfall, and flooding. Less than two months later, on October 9th, the Louisiana coastline was hit by a second powerful hurricane, bringing heavy flooding and rainfall. Though it is typically unheard of for the same area to take two direct hits in the same year, Hurricanes Laura and Delta did just that, lashing southwestern Louisiana and the surrounding areas.
